Today is Valentines Day! My husband is traveling. I have been sick with a stomach bug since 3 AM. Unable to take my son to Kindergarten and honestly in need of his help. I am home with my 2 youngest. I slept most of the morning and he made his little sister breakfast and made sure to keep both of their zippy cups filled. Before my oldest left for school I asked her to take down the things he would need that were up high.
What a blessing. My children have been a special gift to me today. About 12:30 I was able to stand without getting sick. I wanted to do something with them. I had plans for them, as well as to surprise my husband. Needless to say all of that went out the door.
My youngest really wanted to play with play dough. We didn’t have any of course. I had made it before. It is kinda one of those things all teachers should know how to do. So I told them they could help me make some. The smiles on their sweet patient faces were bright and happy.
It doesn’t take long and it was so easy. Everything we needed I already had. Usually you cook the play dough, but I don’t. I just boil the water and add it to the dry ingredients.
It is easy, doesn’t take a lot of time and the kids have fun helping out. I let them take turns pouring in the dry ingredients. I take over once we get to the point of adding the boiling water. Here is the recipe so you and your family can try it at home too:
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 Tbsp cream of tarter
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 Tbsp oil
food coloring of your choice
10 drops of essential oil (of your choice) to make it scented. This is optional.
We put all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Then we added a little vanilla for smell. You could use any essential oil. Then we mixed in the oil and boiling water. Stir until it forms one large mass. Let it cool. Divide and add food coloring
I hope that you
